The horseback riding tour is over a 12 kilometer route with three resting periods, departing from the office, passing by Don Lulo’s house, where you will have a delicious and typical Costa Rican breakfast.

The horseback riding tour takes approximately from 45 minutes to one hour up to “Don Lulo’s house”. After breakfast and observing animals in the family’s mini-zoo, the ride continues on for 25 minutes until arriving at the waterfalls. You may swim in the natural pools the waterfalls have formed.

On the way back we stop once again at “Don Lulo’s house” a delicious Costa Rican lunch is offered. The return trip begins after a well-earned rest on the hammocks and a renouned Costra Rican cup of coffee, which is different because of the use of fresh beans. (I don't get the "caffein jitters" that I do with US coffee.)

Once you find the entrance off the main road going towards San Isidro, you either have to hike or horseback ride. It is 6 kilometers through the forest and country side, so unless you are used to hiking under very hot and humid conditions, we recommend you take the guided horseback ride.

The area is a watershed for the plateau above and during the rainy season the amount of water in the falls can truly be impressive.

Because of their familiarity with the local region, the family not only knows the different types of plants and animals in the area but where the best places are to find them. Depending on the size and interest of a group, the tour can be customized to particular interests.

The location is only ten minutes from Dominical. When planning a trip to the Nauyaca falls make sure you bring a change of cloths, swim trunks, long pants for the ride and a passion for adventure. The Nauyaca falls is one of the most visually stunning and picturesque waterfalls in all of Costa Rica.
